The surgery
A lip lift is a cosmetic procedure that elevates the upper lip by removing a small strip of skin at the base of the nose. This shortens the philtrum and increases the amount of visible pink lip without adding volume. The result is a naturally enhanced upper lip and a more harmonious proportion between the nose, lips and chin.
The procedure is performed under local anesthesia with or without intravenous sedation in our certified surgical center. A precise incision is made along the natural crease at the base of the nose to keep the scar as discreet as possible. In some cases, two small additional incisions are placed at the corners of the upper lip to lift these areas as well. The underlying tissues are lifted and secured, and the skin is carefully closed with fine sutures to optimize scar quality.
A lip lift does not create a “duck lip” appearance. Unlike filler, which adds volume, this procedure improves the structural position of the lip. It can also complement other facial procedures such as rhinoplasty or facelift for a balanced rejuvenation.
The surgery takes approximately 1 hour. Patients return home shortly after the procedure.
Recovery usually lasts about one week. Swelling, mild bruising and tightness can occur and gradually improve. Sutures are typically removed after 5 to 7 days. It is normal for the upper lip to feel stiff for about one month as the tissues heal.
