Chemical peel / Trichloroacetic acid (TCA) peel

A small amount of acid is applied to the face and neck in order to remove a superficial layer of skin. The amount and concentration of acid applied can vary and is based on patient wishes and skin pigmentation. This treatment is ideal for anyone wishing to improve skin quality, in particular for facial blemishes, fine lines or uneven skin pigmentation. A chemical peel can be repeated every 4 to 5 years.

This treatment takes approximately one hour and is performed in the clinic under local anesthesia only. After a chemical peel, it is common to experience some temporary redness, flaking, scaling or dryness of the skin. Up to one week off work is recommended for this reason. A small amount of pain during and for the few days following the procedure is also common.

Microdermabraison

Microdermabrasion works by buffing away the skin’s superficial layers. A small applicator tip is applied to the skin to mechanically remove dead skin cells. This refines skin texture, promotes skin regeneration, helps unclog pores and prepares the skin for topical treatments by improving their effectiveness. Redness and swelling of the treated area may occur.

CO2 laser skin resurfacing

This is a slightly more aggressive and therefore more effective laser treatment designed to diminish the appearance of acne scars and wrinkles of all sizes and depths by precisely removing the outer layers of damaged skin to reveal smoother underlying skin. It takes about 1 hour and is performed under local anesthesia with intravenous sedation in our certified surgical center. Downtime is around 1 to 2 weeks. Redness, dryness and swelling usually occur.

Intense pulse light (IPL)

IPL is a technology used to treat multiple skin conditions, in particular broken blood vessels on the face, hair removal, sun damage, age spots and rosacea (facial redness). The light energy emitted from IPL is absorbed by pigment cells in the skin, and the heat destroys them. To do so, IPL penetrates deep into the skin without harming the top layer.

Portrait ® Plasma Skin Rejuvenation (PSR)

This non-laser technology achieves skin regeneration by using the power of activated nitrogen plasma. Portrait ® PSR was designed to treat sun-damaged skin, improve skin tone and texture and reduce the appearance of wrinkles. This unique science transfers heat energy to the skin without direct contact. The procedure is performed in the clinical and takes about 30 minutes, similar to a facial injection. Swelling and spotting can occur and last for a few days following the procedure. No downtime is required.
